Our breeding program

The aim of our Spelt breeding program is to improve susceptibility against lodging and diseases, grain yield and baking quality while maintaining Spelt specifique characters. We therefore perform each year about 30 crosses among recent and old Spelt varieties. In a classical pedigree scheme, we select in multiple years for improved traits and perform field testing across whole Germany under conventional and organic farming. Only the best breeding lines will be offered to breeders, which put them into the market. Our recent varieties are: Zollernspelz, Zollernperle, Zollernfit, Badensonne, Badenkrone, Badenjuwel, Badenglanz, Franckentop, Stauferpracht, Albertino, Alboretto, Aliente, Paracelcus, Lohengrin and Hildegard. We stick to classical breeding methods without GMO technology.
